Recognizing that media and entertainment profoundly impact our nation's children, Common Sense Media provides trustworthy information and tools, as well as an independent forum, so that families can have a choice and a voice about the media they consume. They believe in "media sanity, not censorship."

The Dressing Room Project
The Dressing Room Project is a positive body image initiative to help girls and women feel more comfortable in their uniquely beautiful bodies. Help post girl-designed cards on women's dressing room mirrors. Join the rebellion!

Jean Kilbourne
A well known advocate who has released numerous documentaries and books on the topic of advertising and its negative effects.

MediaWatch
Active for 20 years, MediaWatch challenges sexism, racism and abusive stereotypes in the media.

Packaging Girlhood
A blog maintained by the authors of Packaging Girlhood, a book that exposes the ways in which media images coax girls into stereotypical roles (sexy, diva, boy-crazy, shoppers) and helps parents to guide daughters through these negative images without taking a “Just say no” perspective.

Trisha Gura
Author of Lying in Weight, Gura has many valuable resources on her website including a blog, podcasts, and "truth in numbers," a set of web pages that provide helpful information about eating disorders.   

Youthnoise
A site for young people who refuse to believe that their youth and idealism are negative traits. People from around the world come to Youthnoise to connect with others who care about the same issues and to create movements for change. "Body image and the media" is one of Youthnoise's most popular causes.
